face serum

Fill a dropper bottle with:

2:1 ratio of jojoba oil and hyaluronic acid

Add 5-10 drops Young Living essential oils

All skin types can benefit from face serum.  Using oil on oily skin may seem counterintuitive, but when you feed your skin healthy oils it will stop over-producing the “bad” oil causing breakouts.  Add essential oils according to your skin type.

Best all-purpose oils:

Frankincense

Myrrh

Patchouli

Tea Tree

Lavender

Rose

Carrot Seed

face Mask

Ingredients:

1 Tbsp Bentonite clay

1/2 Tbsp Apple cider vinegar

1/2 Tbsp Honey

1/2 Tbsp Water

1 drop Young Living Frankincense essential oil

1 drop Young Living Lavender essential oil

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in a non-metal bowl and apply to face for 10-15 minutes.

Note:  I use the extra to do a foot detox as well!

Makeup Brush Cleaner

NOTE:

I used this recipe every 1-2 weeks until Young Living came out with one even better!  It's not a spray, but a solid cleaner you swirl your brushes.  The cleaning action is superior to this recipe so you'll want to get some!

Ingredients:

¼ tsp Young Living Thieves Household Cleaner (THHC)

2 drops Young Living Thieves Dish Soap

4 oz spray bottle

Directions:

Put THHC and dish soap in spray bottle, then fill with water.  Spray brushes and wipe clean.  (Using a brush mat cleaner is easiest.)

For brushes that have a nice long life, never soak, and lay flat or hang bristle-down to dry.

 
Foaming Hand Soap

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp Unscented castile soap

15 drops Young Living Thieves essential oil

Optional Vitamin E dropper to add moisture

Optional Splash of vegetable glycerin to make it bind

Water to fill foaming hand pump

Directions:

Mix all ingredients, then fill with water.  Thieves will help keep your family’s immune system humming along, but we add anything we have on hand.  Thieves + Orange is a favorite, as is Lavender.  I also love Blue Tansy for amazing moisturization.

Note:

Young Living makes a ROCKIN' hand soap, and it's easier on the budget than it seems.  Dilute the soap 50/50, fill with water, and it works great!  The only problem is having to choose between Thieves, Lushous Lemon, or Lavender!

 
Bath Salts

Ingredients:

1 cup Epsom salt

1 cup Baking soda 

Young Living essential oils of choice.

 

Directions:

Combine salt and soda in a jar or silicone zipper bag, adding essential oils of your choice and mixing well.  Budget-friendly alternative:  I never add oils to my salts!  I toss empty bottles into the mix and let them “soak” the remaining residue from the bottles.  I always have bath salts with an amazing aroma!

 

Variation:  Skip the baking soda, and add 1 cup ground oatmeal, ½ cup sea salt, and ½ cup cornstarch. 

 
Bubble Bath

Ingredients:

1 cup castile soap

1/2 cup vegetable glycerin

2 Tablespoons water

6 drops Young Living essential oils of choice

 

Directions:

Combine all ingredients and store in mason jar, or double the recipe and store in empty Ningxia Red bottle, wine bottle, or a pretty corked bottle.

Use any oils on hand or choose from our favorites:

 

Winter:

Black Pepper - warms the body and soothes muscles

Cypress - helps with circulation

Lavender - calming for nighttime

Summer:

Lavender - skin soother after sunny days

Northern Lights Black Spruce - grounding and centering

Blue Cypress - soothes muscles and is amazing for skin

Surrender - soak up the aroma of letting it all go

 
sugar scrub

Ingredients:

½ cup Sugar

2 Tbsp Fractionated coconut oil

2 tsp Unscented castile soap

6 drops Young Living essential oils of choice (I love Stress Away with Lavender, or Grapefruit with Lime)

Mix all and use in shower or as foot and hand scrub.

Variations:

Chocolate Mint – 2 Tbsp cocoa, 2 Tbsp jojoba oil, ¼ cup brown sugar, ¼ cup white sugar, 6 drops Young Living Peppermint essential oil

 

Pumpkin Spice – 1 cup coconut oil, ½ cup brown sugar, ½ cup canned pumpkin, 1 drop Young Living Cinnamon essential oil, 1 drop Young Living Nutmeg essential oil

 

Substitutions – Use oatmeal instead of sugar for a heartier scrub

 
No More Bugs

Ingredients:

1 Tbsp Witch hazel (or a splash, I never measure)

40-50 drops Young Living essential oils (listed below)

Water to fill an 8 oz spray bottle

 

Directions:

Mix all ingredients and shake before each use.  I love to find attractive bottles on Amazon for my sprays, and I make labels using Avery templates.

 

It’s best to use a combination of oils, since different ones are effective for each person.  Best choices:  Citronella, Lemongrass, Purification, Cedarwood, Kunzea, Blue Cypress, Geranium, Peppermint, Clove.

Note:

I haven’t found anything more safe or effective than Young Living’s Insect Repellent, but you can mix up a spray in a pinch if you run out or it hasn’t arrived yet. If you are VERY attractive to bugs, try incorporating Young Living’s Super B supplement into your routine.

 
Facial Toner

Ingredients:

~4 oz Witch hazel

½ tsp Vitamin E oil

3 drops Young Living Cypress essential oil

3 drops Young Living Lavender essential oil

3 drops Young Living Geranium essential oil

4 oz empty spray bottle

Directions:

Fill 4 oz spray bottle almost full with witch hazel, leaving room for spray nozzle and other liquids.  Add Vitamin E and essential oils, shaking to mix.  Apply to skin after exfoliating, prior to moisturization.

Lip Balm

Ingredients:

3 Tbsp Beeswax pellets

2 Tbsp Shea butter

4 Tbsp Coconut oil

10-20 drops Young Living essential oil of choice

Directions:

Melt beeswax, shea butter, and coconut oil, stirring well after adding each one.  Stir in essential oils and pour into pots or tubes until cool.
